Project Title: Carleton University Solar House, The C-RISE House

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Sectors: Institutional

Waterdon was commissioned by Carleton University to construct an innovative research project focused on sustainability for Net Zero homes. This groundbreaking initiative encompassed the development of an entirely new residence, equipped with a range of heating and cooling systems for comprehensive testing. Notably, the home boasted the flexibility to incorporate or eliminate insulation, simulating a wide array of exterior conditions. Waterdon spearheaded the construction of an expansive underground thermal battery, constructed in place, complete with a sophisticated network of racking and piping. This cutting-edge system facilitated the transfer of heat into or out of the home, ensuring optimal energy efficiency and performance.
